1. Johannes Gutenberg – The Printing Press
The Printing Press Invented Year: 1440
Born: Mainz, Germany
Died: February 3, 1468, Mainz, Germany
Parents: Friele Gensfleisch zur Laden, Else Wyrich
Place of burial: Mainz Cathedral, Mainz, Germany
Known for: Invented the printing press; Introduced movable type to Europe

Gutenberg created the printing press, which eventually expanded throughout the world, even though East Asia was already using moveable type.
When Johannes Gutenberg, a goldsmith and inventor, started experimenting with printing in Strasbourg, France in 1440, he was a political exile from Mainz, Germany. After a few more years, he went back to Mainz, whereby 1450, he developed a printing press that was suitable for mass production.
2. Leon Battista Alberti – Anemometer
Italian Renaissance humanism writer, artist, architect, poet, linguist, philosopher, and cryptographer Leon Battista Alberti personified the characteristics of persons who are today referred to as polymaths. He is credited with creating Western cryptography. The pressure plate anemometer, which measures wind speed, is attributed as being invented in 1450 by Genoa, Italy’s Leon Battista Alberti (1404–1472).
Invented Year: 1450
Born: February 14, 1404, Genoa, Italy

3. Peter Henlein – Watch
Born: 1485, Nuremberg, Germany
Died: August 1542, Nuremberg, Germany
Known For: Inventor of the watch
Other Names: Peter Hele, Peter Henle
Many people believe that Peter Henlein, a clockmaker and locksmith from Nuremberg, Germany, invented the watch. He was among the earliest artisans to create the tiny, decorative, wearable clocks that are said to have been the first timepieces. These clocks were frequently worn as pendants or fastened to garments.
4. Galileo Galilei – Telescope
Invented Year: 1608
Born: February 15, 1564, Pisa, Italy
Died: January 8, 1642, Arcetri, Italy
Known For: Analytical dynamics, Heliocentrism, Kinematics, Observational astronomy, Telescope
In 1608, a Dutch lensmaker named Hans Lippershey became the first person to petition for a patent on a telescope. The telescope is simpler to operate for the first time in astronomy. Galileo Galilei, the renowned Italian scientist, created and constructed his own apparatus after learning about the novel invention.
5. Isaac Newton – Laws Of Gravity
Born: January 4, 1643, Woolsthorpe Manor House, United Kingdom
Died: March 31, 1727, Kensington, London, United Kingdom
Theologian, physicist, astronomer, mathematician, alchemist, writer, and natural philosopher in his own right, Sir Issac Newton FRS was a polymath from England. The Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment that followed both benefited greatly from his leadership. According to legend, after observing an apple fall and wondering why it went straight down instead of sideways or even upward, Isaac Newton created gravity theory around 1665 or 1666.
6. Thomas Newcomen – Steam Engine
Born: 1664, Dartmouth, United Kingdom
Died: August 5, 1729, London, United Kingdom
Known for: Inventing the first practical steam engine
In 1712, English inventor Thomas Newcomen invented the atmospheric engine, which was the first fuel-burning engine that was used in a practical way. He was called to be a Baptist lay preacher and was a trader in ironmongery. Born into a mercantile family,
7. Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit – Thermometer

Known for: Precision thermometry; Alcohol thermometer; Mercury-in-glass thermometer; Fahrenheit scale; Fahrenheit hydrometer
Nationality: German, Polish
Born in Poland to a German immigrant family, Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit FRS was a physicist, inventor, and builder of scientific instruments. Fahrenheit created the first thermometers that were precise and reliable enough to enable temperature readings from several observers using various devices to be compared.
8. Nicéphore Niépce – Camera
Born: March 7, 1765, Chalon-sur-Saône, France
Died: July 5, 1833, Saint-Loup-de-Varennes, France
Nationality: French
Known for: Photography; Pyréolophore internal combustion engine
One of the first pioneers of photography was the French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. The first surviving example of a photograph produced by a photographic process is a print created in 1825 from a photoengraved printing plate, which Niépce invented and employed to execute heliography.
9. Michael Faraday – Electric Generator
Born: September 22, 1791, Newington Butts, London, United Kingdom
Died: August 25, 1867, Hampton Court Palace, Molesey, United Kingdom
